John's Report on Jazmine Emma's Brittany
Wednesday April 26, 2006
Emma called me at work all happy and smiley. She received in the mail a certificate showing that in 2005 our dog Jazmine was the number 4 Brittany Spaniel in Canada.
The ranking comes from the tabulation of points from all the dogs Jamine beat in the show ring in 2005.
Emma had a goal of a top 5 placing for 2005, which she achieved. This is a big achievement for a owner handler.
Most of the dogs that do well in the show ring are handled by professionals not amateur handlers like Emma and I. There were times that Emma was in the ring and feeling very poorly from her cancer medicine, she also showed while having a major migraine headache which made her vision all wonky. Despite feeling poorly she would solder on and get the job done. Nice to have something special like this to show for all the hard work and travel in 2005.
Emma, You and Jazmine did a great job to get 4th place. Dad

European Liverleaf Hepatica
When we decided to move from Calgary to our acreage at Red Lodge Estates, we were very sad to leave all of the perennials that we had planted. The Liverleaf noted above in the title, was planted under the deck and it had bloomed grandly in the spring. Last November Raymond dug it up and we planted it at the back of the house in the shade and we hoped it would survive. Lo and behold, this spring little shoots could be seen and now it is blooming and it is beautiful. It blooms in the spring and then it gets leaves which remain all summer. Thank goodness it likes it here, too!
